  19. While I do not own one myself, I have seen a user with a USR Courier V.34+
  20. connect to a BBS with another USR Courier V34+ (these modems support speed
  21. up to 33600, but only with another USR V34+) and connect at 31200.  They
  22. haven't gotten any better than that yet, and the line quality seems good,
  23. so this may well be the real limit.

  32. Around here in the Seattle area, at least, they are required to provide a
  33. line that will do 9600baud fax if it is needed.  Any more than that is
  34. entirely up to the quality of your modem.

  40. Of course!  They have always wanted to charge extra for modem time on the
  41. regular lines, but they just haven't dared to try it.  Instead, they put
  42. together ISDN (which IS a lot better solution than fooling with POTS, no
  43. question) and are attempting to charge double or triple what it costs
  44. them.
